SSO & AAES Virtual Tumor Board: Considerations in the Management of MEN2 Patients (2024 OnDemand)
Activity Description/ Purpose
Join the members of our Endocrine Disease Site Work Group for an insightful discussion. This virtual tumor board will be a case-based discussion addressing the management medullary thyroid cancer, pheochromocytoma, and primary hyperparathyroidism in MEN2 patients. It is intended for practicing surgeons and trainees.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for all surgeons and other health care professionals who are involved in the treatment of patients with endocrine cancer.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

    • Discuss genotype – phenotype correlations in the manifestation of MEN2 associated tumors 

    • Discuss the role of genetic counseling and testing in MEN2 families 

    • Understand the role of preventive thyroidectomy in ”high” and “highest” risk MEN2 patients 

    • Review evaluation, management, and surveillance of medullary thyroid cancer in MEN2 patients 

    • Discuss the management of hyperparathyroidism in patients with MEN2 

    • Review the evaluation and operative considerations in MEN2 patient with pheochromocytoma
