The Surgical Oncologist as COVID-19 Patient: From Diagnosis to Recovery
Activity Description

SSO President James R. Howe, MD, interviews George Chang, MD, MD Anderson Cancer Center, about his experience being diagnosed with and recovering from COVID-19. Dr. Howe and Dr. Chang discuss symptoms, testing, hospitalization, returning to work, and Dr. Chang's experience donating his plasma to help give others passive immunity.

The following podcast features a conversation with individuals who are experts within their respective fields and are members of the Society’s Disease Site Work Groups. SSO supports the need for treatment decisions to be made on a case-by-case basis. The surgeon’s knowledge and understanding of the biology of breast cancer, alternative treatment options, and the institution’s policies at the time the patient will be scheduled for surgery all need to be taken into consideration.
