Gastrointestinal Visiting Professorship Series - Ask the Experts: A Case Based Discussion in Gastric Cancer Staging

Activity Description/ Purpose
This presentation will help physicians understand optimal staging work up for patients with gastric cancer, how different tests are used in early and late stage gastric cancer. This presentation will also help address the limitations of current staging tests in gastric cancer as well as in long term surveillance.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for all surgeons and other health care professionals who are involved in the treatment of patients with Gastrointestinal Cancer.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize standard staging tests for early stage gastric cancer.
  • Identify what other modalities may be used in locally advanced or metastatic gastric cancer.
  • Identify limitations in gastric cancer staging and longterm surveillance
