Event Overview

SSO’s Fellows Institute is an annual educational program cosponsored by the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) and the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS). Fellows Institute promotes professional collegial relationships with peers and medical society members. It reinforces that learning is a life-long professional responsibility to be maintained through Continuous Certification and continuing education.

SSO’s eleventh annual Fellows Institute will take place virtually this November and will include three specialty-specific tracks

Breast Surgical Oncology: Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10 am-5:40 pm ET
Led by Richard J. Bleicher, MD, Jacqueline S. Jeruss, MD, PhD, and Kristalyn Gallagher, DO, this track’s topics include management of the axilla, top medical oncology publications for the surgical oncologist, ultrasound & biopsy, oncoplastic techniques, and other innovative techniques. In addition, discussions around how to get the most out of your fellowship, job selection and contracts will be included in the engaging online format.

Surgical Oncology and HPB: Wednesday from 6-9 pm ET, November 3, 10, 17
Jeffrey Farma, MD and Elizabeth G. Grubbs, MD oversee the Surgical Oncology track and the HPB track is led by Nicholas Zyromski, MD. Each of the three sessions will have a narrowed focus, with 4-5 interactive lectures, discussions and cases. In addition, each evening will include a 30-minute career panel discussion focusing on a different practice setting each week. One evening will be focused on HPB topics. Another evening will focus on melanoma, sarcoma and endocrine, and a third evening will cover colorectal, HIPEC and GI topics.
